Tips on choosing your Wedding Flowers
This really is a special time for a Bride and Groom and we’re here to help you with your Flowers for your big day. We want to make your day look as perfect
as you do. There are so many lovely flowers and different designs to choose
from that it may be difficult to know where to start. Below are a few tips we have put together for you:
- It is important to set a budget for wedding flowers, your florist can then work within this budget and suggest the best arrangements and flowers
to be used. - If you are having a florist, then they should be booked as soon as possible. Ideally, you should arrange a consultation with your florist for you to discuss your ideas and for the florist to advise as best they can.
- When deciding on wedding flowers, a good place to start is to think
about using your favourite flowers and what your colour scheme will be. Your florist can then advise what is available at the time of your wedding and which colours can be sourced.
You may also want to consider if you’re having a theme, for example a Vintage style and feel. This can then be portrayed with the flowers you use and the style of arrangements. - Prepare some ideas before you meet the florist. Look in magazines and search the internet. Remember the names of particular flowers you like… they can be hard to remember if they are not the usual Roses, Lilies etc.
- Most flowers can be obtained all year round but if they are out of season, they can be expensive. Try to choose seasonal flowers, as they are generally less expensive. Also, it’s worth knowing that certain times of the year flowers can be very expensive… especially around Valentine’s Day!
- Before meeting with the florist, make sure that your wedding dress, bridesmaids' dresses, venue for the wedding ceremony/reception are all finalised, so your flowers can complement your dress design and decor of the venues.
- Nearer to the time your Wedding Day, it may be beneficial to take swatches of your dress and your bridesmaids’ dresses to the florist, they can then match the colours of the flowers as close as possible.
- The florist will need to know the ages of the bridesmaids, so that the bouquets can be designed with their sizes/ages in mind.
- The florist will need to have the full addresses of the venues and where the wedding party is leaving from on the day. The florist will need all contact telephone numbers and you need to decide on delivery times. The florist may need to contact the venues to discuss delivery times and any special requirements. Therefore, you need to have these contact names available.
- If you want petals scattered on the tables at the reception, you may
need to check with the venue that they are happy to have this as some places refuse this option in case their linen gets stains on it. - If you want the flowers in the church to be transferred to the reception venue, then you need to agree whether the florist will do this or a guest at the wedding. A florist will make a charge to do this.

Yes. We calculate delivery prices based on area and quantity to be delivered and set up on day. The delivery cost will be added to your quote.
2. I don't know the exact number of Groomsmen Buttonholes that we will require - when is the latest we can let you know?
We allow changes up to three weeks prior to delivery. We understand that numbers will change and we do not mind changing the invoice as many times as is necessary.
3. My wedding reception is on a Saturday, when would you deliver and collect?
We deliver and dress your venue on the morning of your wedding and liase with your venue for the best time to collect any vases etc the following day.
4. Can we collect the flowers the day before the wedding?
Ideally, we would like to keep hold of the flowers until the morning of your wedding so we can condition them overnight. In some cases, depending on certain flowers, we may need to prepare some arrangements the morning of the wedding so that they last as long as possible and stay as beautiful as possible for your day.
5. Are we required to pay a deposit?
Yes you are. This is normally £100.00 but it all depends on the size of the wedding. This is deducted from your total invoice.
6. When are we required to pay the invoice?
You are required to pay the deposit on booking and the full amount of the invoice at least three weeks prior to delivery. We will send you a reminder for this.
7. How do we pay?
You can pay by cash, send a cheque made payable to Fleurescent Wedding Flowers, or pay by Bank Transfer. If you would like to transfer the money straight into our account, we will send you our bank details separately.
